What Does an IPL Photofacial Address?

IPL Photofacials are designed to treat a wide variety of skin conditions. At The Body Clinic, we address redness and lightly pigmented brown spots using Venus Versa IPL technology. When you arrive at our Mississauga Medspa, we will offer you an skin analysis to determine whether this treatment is the best fit for your needs.

Am I a Candidate for IPL Photofacial ?

If you are dealing with skin pigmentation caused by aging, sun exposure or broken capillaries, the IPL Photo Facial may be an effective solution for you. Tan patients or those with melasma (a condition where brown patches appear on the skin) may not be a good candidates. We recommend starting with an initial complimentary consultation to meet with The Body Clinic IPL specialist. During this appointment, we’ll review your medical history, talk about your concerns and discuss what type of results you can expect from the IPL Photo Facial treatment or a combination of Clear & Brilliant laser

Who Can Benefit from Venus Versa IPL™ Photofacial Treatment?

The light-based IPL™ Photofacial treatment is not suitable for every skin tone, unfortunately.

Tanned or dark-toned skin poses a risk and is not suitable for IPL™, because the light is specifically drawn to melanin.

What do I need to know before my Photo Facial treatment?

IPL Photo Facial treatments cannot be performed on skin that is tan or burned from sun exposure. Please avoid direct sunlight and tanning beds before the treatment. Self-tanner should not be used two weeks before your IPL Photo Facial treatment. Discontinue the use of any topical prescription medications (such as Retinol 2 weeks before treatment. To achieve maximum results, The Body Clinic Medical esthetician may recommend another resurfacing treatment, such as dermaplaning in conjunction with an IPL Photo Facial.

What should I expect after a Photo Facial Treatment?

At first, the treated areas may darken, and the surrounding skin might be a little red which should subside in a couple of hours post-treatment. The darkened spots will fade and flake off in one to three weeks after treatment, giving way to a clearer complexion. After your treatment, you can go back to normal activities. However, your skin may be sensitive to the sun, so we recommend avoiding exposure and wearing sunblock whenever you are outside (which is always a good idea) following the treatment.
